The Paralysis of Perfect Information
Examining how the search for more information becomes a mechanism for avoiding the decision itself. We look at the paradox of choice, information overload in financial contexts, and what a "good enough" decision framework looks like in practice. The session includes a structured exercise in applying satisficing criteria to a real financial decision type.
September 2026
Emotional Accounting: How Feelings Shape Financial Choices
A session on mental accounting, emotional valuation, and how the emotional context of a financial decision shapes whether we make it at all. We examine the role of financial anxiety and shame in producing avoidance, and specific reframing techniques that reduce the emotional weight of decisions without dismissing the emotions themselves.
Designing Your Own Decision Triggers
The capstone session of the current series cycle. Participants work through a structured process for identifying their own most persistent financial procrastination patterns and selecting the smallest, most targeted intervention from the series that addresses it. This session runs longer than others to allow time for the individual reflection component.
October 2026
The Anatomy of Financial Delay — Series Restart
The series restarts from Module 1 in October. This session is the recommended entry point for anyone new to the series. It establishes the conceptual framework that all subsequent sessions build on, and is designed to be useful even for participants who have attended later modules in a previous cycle.
When Knowing Isn't Enough
The second session of the October series cycle. We examine the intention-action gap and why financial literacy alone does not reliably produce financial behavior. Participants leave with a clearer understanding of the specific conditions under which information translates into action, and what they can do to create those conditions.
